The City of Majestic Waterfalls

In the Philippines, there are cities that catches the eye of the foreigners. One of them is the City of Iligan. Iligan also called "The City of Majestic Waterfalls" is a must visit city of Mindanao. You couldn't finish visiting all the tourist spots in just a day. I assure you if step on Iligan, you wouldn't regret it. 

Iligan City is found in the Northern part of Mindanao. Its area is more or less 81,000 hectares. It has 44 barangays containing about 300,000 people. This city was the former capital of Lanao del Norte because of its high earning industries. It has 11 major industries; PGMC-Iligan, Iligan Cement Corporation, Pilmico Foods Corporation, Global Steelworks International Inc., Petronas Energy Phils Inc., etc.

In Education, Iligan City has a popular university namely, MSU-IIT (Mindanao State University Iligan Institute of Technology) which is the top seven of all the universities in the Philippines. MSU-IIT has two colleges that are centers of excellence which is a high ranked college. A college that is a center of excellence is considered to be a college of international standards. Even though other colleges are not centers of excellence they could still be compared to some outstanding colleges of universities in Manila (Capital of the Philippines). There are many other examples of outstanding schools in Iligan. La Salle Academy and St. Michael's College are also schools with high rankings.

Iligan City also known as "The City of Majestic Waterfalls" because of the abundant number of beautiful waterfalls found in the city. The most amazing waterfall of them all, which is considered the highest waterfalls in the Philippines is the Maria Cristina Falls(picture on the left). This waterfall is amazing in the picture but when you see it personal, you would be stunned of it's magnificent features and its power. Even from a considerable distance, you could still feel the droplets of water reaching you. Because of its power, it is already used to generate electricity by using turbines. That's why the Maria Cristina Falls, together with the Tinago falls, is a must see tourist spot of Iligan City though swimming isn't allowed you would still enjoy the sight of the waterfall.

Another magnificent waterfall is the Tinago falls. From the word Tinago(Visayan term for hidden) it is found in the depths of a hill. You wouldn't regret your long journey to this falls because when you find it, you would be amazed of its sight. You aren't allowed to swim at the Maria Cristina Falls but here, you can even experience the power of the falls. You can use a raft which leads you to the center of the falls. The experience of being showered by a powerful waterfall is very refreshing. It takes away all your problems for a moment that you wouldn't want to leave.

















Aside from waterfalls, the City is also known for its amazing pools. The Timoga pools of Iligan are known all throughout Mindanao and even to some parts of Luzon and Visayas. These pools are using flowing water that's why when you dive into the pool, the refreshing feeling of the water makes you more energetic. It doesn't use any chlorine or any other chemicals applied to pools in other cities. Slides, diving boards, olympic-size pools, are available here. The fun will never cease if ever you come in.


Now, I hope you would visit Iligan City. You can experience many amazing things in this city. Things that you haven't experience ever before. You will never regret your trip here, you may even think in coming here again next time.

#7 Iron man's Courage

I always watch movies that are related to Marvel. Marvel is a comic series that contains many superheroes and super villains. When a new Marvel movie comes out, I will always watch it before the day ends. Marvel always intrigues me because of their super powers and other superhuman abilities. Marvel is also interesting because of the new arrivals of superheroes.

The latest Marvel movie that caught my attention is the “Avengers”. This movie contains many super heroes; they are Iron man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Hawk eye and Black Widow. These heroes formed an alliance to stop the plan of Thor’s brother, Loki. Loki’s plan was to form a portal to let the army of aliens attack earth.

My favorite part of the story concerns about Iron man, so I want to introduce him to you first. He was the member of the Avengers that made the movie lively. He always cracks a joke when the mood becomes gloomy. He didn’t have super powers but his intelligence, together with his money, gave him the ability to create weapons that were powerful enough to fight enemies. His best invention was his own armor or suit that has many abilities. He can do many amazing things when he is wearing his suit like flying, shooting missiles, and emitting fire.

There was a part in the story that a missile was launch to destroy the city that was being attacked by the enemy. This missile had the power to destroy the whole city. When Iron man knew about this, he used all of his remaining energy in catching up to the missile and leading it inside the portal including him. I like this part because he didn’t even think twice in doing this which could even sacrifice his life. He decided to give up his life for the many lives he could save. His courage is what I admired most in the movie.
